Casino sponsors Tuskegee Airmen Youth Aviation Summer Camp
Buffington Harbor, Ind., 8/20/01 - Majestic Star was the only casino sponsor for the first Annual Youth Aviation Summer Camp held at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL and Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, IL.
Thirty sophomores and seniors from the Gary and Chicago Public Schools were invited to the camp.
The highlights of this year's two day camp included: a kick off breakfast and tour of Ohare Airport's airfield control tower, young eagle orientation flights on an air craft at Lewis University, a tour of Scott Air Force Base, along with a variety of educational events for the students.
"Majestic Star Casino strives to give back to the community," said Chareice White, community relations manager. "The Youth Aviation camp was a program spearheaded by Major Duane Hayden of the Gary/Chicago Airport. We applaud his efforts and we're delighted to assist Hayden in promoting the value of education through aviation."
Majestic Star joined the following sponsors; The Gary/Chicago Airport, The Chicago Department of Aviation, Lewis University, Spirit Airlines, FAA Great Lakes Region, and Illinois Air National Guard.
