Local Shelters Receive Easter Baskets from Casino
Buffington Harbor, Ind, 4/4/02 - Majestic Star Casino's Diversity Council recently donated hundreds of personal items to three local women's shelters in honor of Women's History Month and Easter.
The Council collected items from team members and presented them in Easter baskets during a special reception on March 25.
The shelters that received baskets were The Arc and Rainbow Shelter located in Gary, IN and St. Jude House in Crown, Point. Shelter directors provided the casino with a list of items needed by the women residing in the shelters.
Local business and community leaders attended the pre-Easter reception in which 36 Easter baskets were designed and each shelter received 12 baskets.
"The event was a first for the Council as well as the casino," said Nicole Dunham, human resource senior training specialist. "Team members with the most creative baskets received prizes. We hope the women enjoyed the baskets and this becomes an annual event for us."
