December Employee Awards Celebration at Majestic Star Casino

Gary, Ind., January 9, 2004 - Majestic Star Casino is continuing its team member of the month awards recognition program which is now called "Star Power Award Celebration" by recognizing employees for the month of December. Team members are recognized as team member of the month along with supervisor of the quarter.

Vertis Shirley (Casino Services) and Dorothy James (Lead Housekeeper) were named team members of the month. "It’s wonderful, it feels good to be acknowledged, and I love people," said Vertis Shirley. "I am very, very proud of this award," said Dorothy James "because it represents teamwork."

Special recognition awards were presented to Karen Johnson (Security/Guest Services) and Cathy Palichuk (Table Games). "I’m so very honored and happy. I would like to thank my supervisors Vincent Lee and Jimm Bjes. They stand behind the security department," said Karen Johnson. "I’m very honored and I strive to treat people the way I like to be treated. It’s easy for me because I enjoy my job," said Cathy Palichuk.

Mary Barach (Table Games) was named supervisor of the quarter. "It’s wonderful, Majestic Star is my second home and I like to treat people like family," said Mary.

Majestic Star’s Operations Committee reviews several nominations and selects the winners. All nominees and team members are invited to a Star Power Award Celebration.
