Established in 1921 with a strong commitment to serve, the YWCA has become a well-established institution. Rising to meet the challenges of a diverse and multi-cultural society the YWCA has for seventy-eight consecutive years, administered programs and services that are in line with the mission of the national organization.
In the past the YWCA programs were planned primarily for women and girls, but it now offers a wide range of social services, recreation programs for families and young males. The various programs that are provided includes: Nurturing/Visitation for Abused and Neglected Children, Fitness/Dance, health seminars, college tours, Y-Teen leadership clubs, summer day camp and pre-kindergarten.
"The YWCA is certainly grateful to Majestic Star for the donation of the computers," said Sandy Market, interim executive director of the YWCA in Gary. "The computers are very much needed, as we have stared a computer program for our pre-kindergarten students. We did not have any computers to be used for the program. This donation came at a wonderful time to enable us to start the pre-school program, we are just thrilled to have them."
As part of its mission statement Majestic Star is committed to building good neighbor relations with its communities.
