August 22, 2001 - Majestic Star Casino Float Wins First Place Award
August 22, 2001 - Buffington Harbor, Ind. - Majestic Star Casino was the recipient of a first place trophy for the best float in the Gary Independence Day parade. During a recent press conference Mayor Scott L. King presented a trophy to Chareice White, community relations manager for Majestic Star.
The float featured an enormous silver slot machine, over-sized playing dice and giant playing cards on a replica of the casino boat.
Hundreds of spectators lined Broadway during the Independence Day Parade to witness the largest parade of the year in Gary.
Although the weather was blazing hot, it didn't stop a captive audience from viewing an array of floats and marching bands during the day.
