June 22, 2001 - Majestic Star Casino Donates Computers to Crisis Center

Buffington Harbor, Ind. - Majestic Star Casino recently donated six Gateway Computers to the not-for-profit Crisis Center located in Gary's Miller neighborhood.

"The computers are a wonderful addition to the alternative house," said Shirley Caylor, executive director of the Crisis Center. "Through our program over the past 10 years, 86 percent of our children have gone back to school. The computers are essential to the future and will make a difference in the progress of the children."

"Majestic has become very involved in Northwest Indiana causes," said Jef Bauer, vice president of Marketing for Majestic. "We felt we could make a significant positive impact on children through our support of the Crisis Center. With our monetary donation as well as the new computers, I think we truly have."

The Crisis Center is an alternative house for abused, neglected and runaway children. The Center provides a rap line, 24 hour crisis line, counseling services, Safe Place, teen court and youth resources.

Majestic Star Casino was a major sponsor for the Crisis Center's recent Wine & Food Tasting, Silent & Live Auction. Several hundred of local community and corporate leaders and elected officials attended the annual event held at the Sand Creek Country Club. This year marked Majestic's third year as a corporate sponsor.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the various programs provided by the Crisis Center.
