Fitzgeralds Casino Hotel Las Vegas to Host NAAIA
January 2, 2003 - Las Vegas, Nev.
Fitzgeralds Casino Hotel in Las Vegas announced today that it will host the National African American Insurance Association's annual strategy planning meeting January 10-11.
Fitzgeralds executives say that they are honored to be selected to host the annual meeting for NAAIA. Fitzgeralds is owned by Don H. Barden, the first African American to own a national casino company. Barden acquired three Fitzgeralds casinos in December 2001 through his wholly owned subsidiaries Majestic Investor Holdings, LLC. The three properties located are in Tunica, Miss., Black Hawk, Colo, and Las Vegas, Nev. Majestic Star and its affiliates own four casinos including its first casino Majestic Star in Gary, IN which began operations in June 1996 at Buffington Harbor in Gary.
The NAAIA was established in 1997 to serve multicultural markets. The members represent property and casualty life, health and financial service concerns. The association strives to improve the professional needs of independent agents, captive agents and corporate personnel to create opportunities for growth and education.
NAAIA hosts professional development seminars and educational workshops through conferences and meetings across the country to provide opportunities for power networking.
"Selecting Fitzgeralds Casino to host our meeting was a very natural logical and natural choice for us," said Aubrey L. Branch, vice chairman of NAAIA. "Our organization's focus is to enhance and perpetuate the presence of African American professionals in the insurance industry. It is only good business to support and help empower fellow business people like ourselves."
The National African American Insurance Association board of directors elected Roosevelt Haywood III, president and chief executive officer of Haywood Fleming and Associates in Gary, as its chairman of NAAIA 2002-2004. One Buffington Harbor Drive, Gary, IN 46406 majesticstar.com
