January 31, 2001 - Majestic Star Casino Honors Black History Month
February Festivities Salute Celebrity Authors and Airmen
Buffington Harbor, Ind.- The public is invited to celebrate Black History Month at Majestic Star Casino. Four events are planned for the month of February.
The celebration begins with a celebrity book signing with the legendary singer "The Iceman" Jerry Butler on Wednesday, February 7 (boarding times 8:00-8:30pm). Butler will autograph his book "Only The Strong Survive: Memoirs of A Soul Survivor." Butler is an award winning performer, producer and composer. He's the recipient of two Billboard Magazine Awards, the Rhythm and Blues Foundation Pioneer Award and he's been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The baritone Butler has had numerous hits during his career such as; For Your Precious Love, Never Gonna Give You Up, and Hey Western Union Man just to name a few.
On Tuesday, February 13 there will be a book signing ceremony with Thomas Dortch, the National President of 100 Black Men (boarding times 8:00-8:30pm). Dortch will autograph his book "Miracles of Mentoring: The Joy of Investing in Our Future."
There will be a Meet & Greet Salute to the Original Tuskegee Airmen on Monday, February 19 (boarding times 8:00-8:30pm).
The culmination is Tuesday, February 27 with a networking Business After Hours for The Gary Chamber of Commerce (boarding times 4:00-4:30pm and 6:00-6:30 pm).
