Majestic Star Casino & Meijer Sponsors Holiday Party
Children From Local Charities Will Benefit

December 19, 2000 - Buffington Harbor, Ind. - Majestic Star Casino recently held a two-day food drive. The casino collected non-perishable food items from casino guests and employees. Casino guests that donated two or more items received a free Majestic T-shirt. All items collected were donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, a local food bank that serves over 100 local agencies in 7 counties.

The children were selected from various local agencies including the Northwest Indiana Sickle Cell Foundation, Crisis Center, Gary Neighborhood Services Day Care Center and the John Will Anderson Boys & Girls Club. All of the agencies are associated with the Lake Area United Way.

The theme for the party is Holiday Gifts for the Stars, as the children were the stars this year. Staff members of Majestic and Meijer presented gifts and goody bags. Santa was on hand to greet each child and take individual pictures.

"We were very excited to partner with the management and staff of Meijer during this holiday season", said Chareice White, community relations manager. "Majestic and Meijer are committed to giving back to the community and we believe by hosting the holiday party for the children will make a difference in their lives."

"We're proud that this partnership with Majestic Star Casino will provide a wonderful and joyful holiday to some very important children", said Dave Gensel store director for Meijer in Merrillville. "We look forward to the holiday party becoming an annual event."

Majestic Star Casino has a long history of community involvement including charitable contributions, community sponsorship and volunteerism. In addition to its contractual giving, the casino has contributed more than $1 million in voluntary charitable donations since opening in 1996.
